Hello George Town Festival fans!

Thank you all for coming to our #GTF2017 shows and supporting us over the years.

This year’s George Town Festival would not have been a mammoth success were it not for the countless local and international visitors who attended our high calibre shows. With a wide variety of performances both free and ticketed, there was certainly something for everyone.

Our popular shows included the heartwarming Gala by Jérôme Bel that included both professional and amateur dancers from all over Penang; the powerful yet playful Manganiyar Classroom consisting of musically talented children from an Indian village; the dizzying acrobatic antics from the gravity-defying A Simple Space; and Jimmy Nelson’s moving exhibition ‘Before They Pass Away’ depicting the majestic individuals from the world’s most isolated communities.

The outdoor and free Macam-Macam ASEAN and Butterworth Fringe Festival attracted huge crowds who braved both the humidity and torrential rain to support local design and food vendors, and exceptionally talented entertainers both from Penang and abroad.

We will be continuing our #GTF journey in our ninth year next year, so do watch this space, as well as our FacebookInstagramTwitter, and website for updates, such as proposals for #GTF18 programming.

For a trip down memory lane, here are the #GTF trailers from the years 2010 to 2016, and 2017.

P.S. We have released call for proposals here!
